Ode to My Husband
I have a husband who is taller than life; I’m so honored to be called his good wife. Over twenty years of love without end; Rest of my days in joy with him spend. I am blessed with the ultimate caretaker (Who’s become quite a suitable home-maker). Safe do I feel in his strong, solid arms, For I know he fights against that which harms. He’s given me a life full of peace and content; Troubles which come tarry but a short stint. He works quite hard, day in and day out. In dealing with men, his word is his clout. His life he would give, his love runs so deep, Maybe his breath for mine, so more years I’d keep, Or as my daily nurse he would freely live, Gladly he’d accept it with no grief to give. Just as freely I’d give up all I have for him, Much more he deserves than I’ve yet given. I look forward to our golden years still to come; I pray God lets us die as we have lived — — and that’s as one.
